Celebrating The Fourth Of July Up High

For the last five years that we've lived in this house, we've watched the Fourth of July fireworks from our roofdeck.  We can see the ones on the National Mall but we also have a panoramic view of several other fireworks shows in the suburbs.  It's always a fun night and no matter how hot it is outside, it's always cool and breezy up there.

The Fourth has taken on new import for me since moving into this house with a roofdeck.  Every year the show is pretty much the same (sparkly and bright) but the boys never are. This was the first year we let DD stay up to watch the show.  He was really excited and lasted through the whole thing.  The two of them changed seats several times before settling in side by side, gabbing through the entire show.

It was another great long weekend full of food, friends, family and fun.  I'm sad it's over but am glad for the short work week.
