Vacation Mode

Admittedly, I'm not fully present all the time these days.  My mind is in vacation mode.  We have hit a long stretch of hot and humid weather here and friends are starting to go on their trips now.  The first of our trips is coming up in a few weeks.  And then C's parents are coming to stay with us for a few weeks before we head off again for the beach.  But in between there are weekends that are still unspoken for and I have a burning need to fill those up with travel.  Nothing extravagant but a few days away here and there until school starts.  I'm also thinking about taking a week off to stay home and be with the boys.

C and I have been talking about travel in the near future and possible trips now that DD is 3.  People always talk about their international travels to exotic places with little ones in tow, and while I know it's possible, the question we've always asked is "is it enjoyable for the kids?"  My own belief is that they have to be a certain age before they can have a good time on certain kinds of vacations.  We're finally headed into the beginnings of that phase and the tossing around of travel ideas has got me really excited.
