Great Falls, Maryland
Last week we had some time off and took the kids to Great Falls, MD for a nature hike. This is one of the activities the boys enjoy more than anything and it's something we don't do enough of. We saw waterfalls, geese in the Potomac River, the museum, a "pirate" ship in the lock, and an oil painter. But the boys were most enchanted with throwing rocks into the water and making big splashes.
In anticipation of the nature hike, the boys asked to bring their baskets for pine cone gathering. As it turned out, there wasn't a single pine cone to be had. Later in the evening when we sorted through the baskets of goodies we found rocks, winter berries, seashells, acorns and nuts. The boys had a good time sorting everything into their proper containers.
