The Coolest Place In DC

Summer weather is here.  One of my favorite places to take the kids on a hot sunny day is the fountain at the Hirshhorn Museum.  The fountain is in the inner courtyard of the building.  The architecture plus water creates a cool shaded breeze no matter the temperature outside.  Back in the day they used to serve lunch in the courtyard as well, a lovely pit stop after taking in the modern art at the Hirshhorn.  The small gift shop always has a few treasures as well.

Nearby is the carousel, another one of the boys' favorite spots.  We usually have to go 3 or more times in a row before heading over to the snack place to get some popsicles. And we never miss the sculpture garden on our way back.  The manicured grass and rectangular reflecting pool is always a hit.
