When We Were Snowed In
Wednesday mid-morning, the scraping sound of a bobcat could be heard on our street. Finally. We had been in the house since Friday when schools closed in anticipation of Winter Storm Jonas. When the snow finally stopped in the early morning hours of Sunday, we were left with about 2.5 feet of snow. While the snow fell, we went outside every few hours to play, sled, shovel, assess. On Saturday night, we took a walk through the quiet, untouched streets. Sunday night while we went out to shovel one last time for the evening, we had a bonfire while the boys slid down the homemade luge track,
It was three full days of absolute quiet outside. (The story inside was something different!) Snowfall quiets the surroundings; everything is crisp, clean, and shimmering. Schools, offices, and businesses closed. We all hit the pause button and enjoyed time with family. That is nice. By Tuesday, cabin fever was growing and we were running out of a some essentials. We were glad to see the snow plow finally after being house bound for five days. A trip out for lunch, groceries, books, and treats was overdue.
We've reached the end of a strange week now and while C and I have been hard at work, school has been cancelled for the entire week. No classes and no extracurriculars. The boys have been in heaven.
