A New Routine
The end of school feels like months, not weeks, ago. But in two short weeks, our schedule and routine have changed dramatically. Part of that change involves a disruption in Family Day. Last year at this time, we finished up Tae Kwon Do and decided to take a break. We gave up gymnastics as well. In their place, we spent Saturdays exploring the city and the surrounding suburbs, and taking day trips to points further. Of course we made exceptions for birthday parties and playdates, but not always.
So after a year, C and I decided to start the boys up in karate. The school is allowing us to put BB and DD into the same class (which saves time) and the class is early enough that we still have the rest of the day to explore. I wrote before that I thought Family Day would have to come to an end at some point, and so it has. But now I see it as a temporary abeyance rather than the end; something that we can easily bring back when we feel the need to. For now we're looking forward to our new routine.
