The boys and I went on an afternoon trip to River Farm in Mount Vernon. It's not a farm; rather an old estate and meadow that abuts the Potomac River. It's a quaint and low-key place to take the kids. If you take a particular trail you can actually get down to the water which has a very rocky beach. I know the boys would have loved playing there but I didn't let them. The incline is quite steep and I was worried about getting both boys down and then back up again on my own. We'll go back another day when C is with us and try it.
Wildlife we saw: tons and tons of big butterflies, a rabbit, and a snake(!).
