Yards Park, It's Been Awhile

When Yards Park was first developed, I used to take BB and DD there often in the Summer so they could splash around in the city's coolest wading pond and enjoy the spray fountains.  Back then, there were times we had the place to ourselves and I made sure to pack plenty of drinks and snacks because the only restaurant or store nearby was Potbelly's.  Parking was free and plentiful back then.

Fast forward to this weekend.  The weather was Spring-like and Light Yards (aka the Bunnies) - currently DC's most instagrammed darling - was in full force.  The memories came rushing back for the boys of the times we spent there.  They made me promise we'd come back in the Spring.

Yards Park has come a long way since the days of Potbelly's.  There are numerous restaurants, a very busy ice cream parlor that the boys loved, a gym, Harris Teeter, and more condos.  All have gone up in the last two to three years.  I also noticed a sign for a coffee shop too.  We had a great time soaking in the rays and before heading home we grabbed dinner from TaKorean.

There is talk of one more potential snowstorm at the end of this week (bring it on!) but it certainly felt as though Spring is about to arrive.
