Taipei, Day 8 - Books, Lunch + Date Night

At this point, we'd been in Taipei a full week.  This Saturday we were committed for lunch with family, but given our early wake-ups, lunch was hours away.  To spend the time, we headed over to the Eslite Dunnan branch, touted as the world's only 24-hour bookstore.  That it is, but with some caveats - the children's section, the housewares shop, and the cafes don't open until 11.  So we arrived with nothing to do but peruse Chinese books while counting down the minutes for the cafe to open so the boys could eat.  After a very hurried and unsatisfying lunch, we rushed off to our formal lunch with my family.  It was another family reunion of sorts and a long, long affair.  Course after course of ultra-fancy food, none of which the boys really could eat.  Our waitstaff saved the day with endless balloon swords for the boys.

After several hours, we headed back to the apartment to run some errands.  Later in the afternoon, PoPo and my youngest Aunt came over to watch the boys while C and I had our first date night in Taipei.  We went back to YongKang Street for some serious boutique shopping and ramen eating. Afterwards, we headed over to the Shida night market to look around.  Neither of us wanted to admit it but we were exhausted.  It was the latest we had been up since arriving.  I didn't take many photos but snapped these two.  The area is chock full of small bars and cafes tucked into every alleyway.
