Our Second and Third Weekends Home

C is officially tired of me whining about my Taipei hangover.  The second week back from Taipei was the start of ice skating.  We all woke up early Saturday to do that, have lunch, and come home before heading back out again.  The plan was to go to the Mall to walk around and maybe pop into a museum and then hit H Street to visit a new restaurant.  The reality was that locals and tourists alike had descended on DC that very day.  Usher and No Doubt were here.  The tail end of the cherry blossoms were here.  It was basically the worst day to drive to DC.  After a one and a half hour ride in the car, we finally made it.  We hung around the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden and treated BB and DD to lemon and cherry ices.

For further punishment, we drove to our old neighborhood for Shake Shack.  Those aforementioned crowds seemed to have all had the same idea.  We couldn't catch a break.  All was good once the food finally arrived.  We all ate french fries in the car while driving home.
The next weekend wasn't much better.  Saturday's weather was cold, miserable and we were all feeling out of sync.  Seasonal allergies kicked in hard for some of us.  Sometimes you just have one or two of those weekends - everything is a bit off.  That's life.
