Going Back to Catoctin Mountain

Like this time last year, the need for crisp, cold air grabbed us and we headed north to Catoctin Mountain on MLK day.  Last year, there was still snow and the creek was frozen over.  We spent the our entire time at the creek.  This year, it's warmer and although the trail was still icy, the creek was running.  We hiked up the mountain letting BB and DD climb, run and throw.

I packed 3 pairs of shoes for each of them after what happened last year.  A new pair of boots each for hiking, waterproof boots for stepping into the creek, and regular shoes for the car ride home.  We also packed the awesome walkie-talkies Santa brought for Christmas.  They have a fun time with them but aren't really ever far enough from one another that they couldn't just shout.
During this 4 day weekend, we've been letting the boys push their bedtimes later.  It's a throwback to the Winter break.  Sunday night they stayed up super late to watch the AFC Championship game. I think we'll have another late night during the Superbowl.   Monday night it was a late game of Catan Junior (our family's current obsession).
