First Snow

D.C. had it's first snow of 2015 just a day after the boys went back to school.  We the boom end of the forecast (around 4 inches) which led to school being cancelled and a snow day for all of us. While C and I worked, the boys did all types of things - played in the snow, played Minecraft and WiiU, wrote books, read, ate, wrestled...you name it, they did it.

As the sun was starting it's descent, I looked from the windows in our family room to see the snow angel DD had made earlier in the morning (see last photo).  Seven deer were staring back at me munching their way through our backyard.  They eventually ran away with me standing in the window.  The next morning, I noticed the deer were back - they had stomped all over DD's snow angel and made it right up to the back of the house.  They were now settled in sleeping under the same grove of trees in our yard.  While I packed lunches, a handsome red fox ran across our back woods startling the deer family for a moment.  They got up ready to leave but when they saw that the fox was just passing through, they relaxed and settled back in for their morning sleep.  Then the next morning, I awoke to all of these deer tracks criss-crossing our front and back yards.

Our house in the woods is beautiful year round, but really has breathtaking views in the white of Winter.

Update: We had freezing rain this morning so school is delayed two hours, so we're at home right now having a long breakfast, a game of Minecraft, a second cup of coffee.
