Roosevelt Island

On the last day of 2010 we decided to take the boys to Roosevelt Island for a nature walk.  I've been once before with the boys by myself in the summer but this was our first time all together.  The walk on the trail is really nice - long but not too long.   The fountains are turned off in the winter but the boys didn't care.  They were too busy discovering "spooky old trees" (from a Berenstein Bears book), moss, sticks and tree stumps.

The biggest hit was going down to the banks of the frozen Potomac River and breaking the ice with large sticks.  BB and DD could have stayed for hours.
