This Was It
It seemed as though Summer turned to Fall this weekend, just like that. This was the last of the warm temperatures. From now on, swimming happens indoors only.
There were other signs all around this weekend that signaled the abrupt change from Summer to Fall. All the food stores smelled of cinnamon pine cones; the cherries were gone; we struggled hard to find the last watermelons in the area (we bought 3!); pumpkins and gourds made their first appearance; Target put out Halloween candy in their aisles; and all the water guns are on clearance.
I am looking forward to Fall; I know that this sounds as though I'm not. But we had such a delicious Summer that I'm finding it hard to say goodbye.
