Nature Saturdays

I have been keeping Potomac Overlook in the back of my mind for a return visit in the Spring.  BB was so excited to see the large beehive, but alas, no bees until Spring.  Then I read that Gulf Branch, a neighboring nature center, had an active beehive year round.  With that, we headed off Saturday morning to see for ourselves.

Why hadn't we visited Gulf Branch sooner?  It's close by, has a great nature center with live animals, has an owl in residence, a pond full of bullfrogs, and a small stream that runs for much of the trail.  And don't forget the aforementioned bees.  The weather was again gorgeous - brilliant sunshine and mild temperatures.  We would have stayed even longer had DD not decided to step into the stream and soak his trail shoes and jeans.  After a quick change back home, we went to Mitsitam for lunch before setting off for our afternoon adventure.
