Making a Choice
The boys are fully immersed in their summer camp. We just started week 3 and we're all adjusting to the routine nicely. The laid back days of having nothing to do are behind us and mornings are all about packing lunches and bags, organizing swimsuits and towels, and keeping up with theme days.
At camp, BB takes swimming at the nearby university pool every morning. He was protesting (loudly) about this a few days in, and it's rare for BB to protest anything. I think the logistics of taking the school bus, changing in the locker room, etc. caused him some angst. It isn't the swimming, which he loves. There were some moments where C and I thought about pulling him out of swimming. I was struggling. How much should I push before I cross the line into being an overbearing parent? We chose to try and talk him through it. BB is the most reasonable kid there ever was. So with some coaxing here and there, he continues to go swimming every morning. And now we're at week 3. I can't say enough about how proud BB makes me for sticking with it.
