Video Games as Art
One of the things BB has been asking about is how to turn his very detailed drawings into a video game. He always wants to know how that is done. In order to shed some light on the process, we went to The Art of Video Games exhibit at the Smithsonian's American Art Museum. There were a few interesting exhibits that included drawings and paintings of the initial ideas gamers had when designing their games, but not as much I was hoping for. The main draw of the exhibit was the video games themselves. My boys ran from game to game playing their fill.
As luck would have it, GameFest 2.0 was happening in the Kogod Courtyard on the day we visited. There were art projects, face painting, more video games, and a real life "video" game that BB played. I got to see some contemporary art, have lunch in the cafe, and browse the museum shop before headingd home. Oh, and we ran into some friends there too!
