Year of the Rooster + Late Winter List 2017

It's late winter and we're still waiting for a big snowfall.  It's been a busy few weeks leading to February with Chinese New Year, activities at school, and trips out of town.  The boys have one more trip planned this month and in between we've doing all kinds of things.  Here is what I'm calling our Late Winter List:

Keep celebrating Chinese New Year!
Watch The Monkey King: Hero is Back, a Chinese animated film telling the story of the Chinese classic The Monkey King
Watch Mulan - the boys have never watched it!
Attend the CNY celebration at the Kennedy Center
Talking about Japanese Internment and recognizing Korematsu Day
Eat lots of delicious Chinese food and treats
Decorate
Set off poppers
Winter playlist
Practice Chinese watching movies/tv dramas
Try new recipe
Visit new national park
Clean out kitchen + closet
Change office space and create new homework area
Family movie night
Winter beach trip
Go skiing
Winter farmers market
Eat all the root vegetables
Low-tech day (arts and crafts day; reading day; music day)
Pajama day
Perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe
Go ice skating
Family hot pot dinner
Make ice cream (and affogatos for the grown-ups!)
