Study Area Dilemmas, Part II

Over the weekend we completed the set up of the boys' new homework area upstairs.  We are lucky in that the boys' room is big with its own bathroom and large walk-in closet. So it easily took two secretary desks without problem.  We need to relocate a framed print that was hanging on this wall, but no other changes need to be made.

On Monday the boys went upstairs to complete their homework. We are still getting used to the change but so far so good!

I am still working on the library, also upstairs.  I had plans right when we moved in but as I said, our needs are always changing. We've given away 4 large banker boxes of books but still have so many more.  I finally settled on new bookshelves to replace the IKEA bookcase currently there now.  Once those are up and the old bookcase removed, I'll set to reorganizing the books and setting up the reading area.  Buying bookcases to fit the space you have (and the look you're going for) is a great way to limit the number of volumes you can keep on hand.  Whatever doesn't fit will need to be donated.  It is a hard thing to do because both BB and DD love to re-read books from younger days. They still like to look at the artwork in picture books and reminisce about bedtimes when we used to read to them nightly.  How can we make them give that up?
