A Great Weekend
How was your Fourth? Ours was fantastic! Anytime you combine a long weekend, perfect weather, and fireworks, you can't go wrong. We spent lots of time outdoors enjoying the 80 degree temps which aren't the norm this time of year in DC.
It was our first year not enjoying the fireworks from our own roofdeck, so we had to make new traditions this time. We ended up at a party and enjoying local fireworks from a great spot. The next day we had tickets to see The BFG at the Imagination Stage. Tickets are purchased and reserved months in advance and I usually feel pretty safe choosing a midday show in the middle of summer to escape the heat, but I have to say I was a little regretful to be inside for two hours in the midst of this cool weather. The show itself was really fantastic. The costume design was so imaginative and the show held BB and DD's interest throughout. We had just finished reading The BFG earlier this Spring, but you don't need to have read it to enjoy the show.
Summer is going by so quickly. I always think of the Fourth of July as the midpoint of summer so I can't help but feel a bit anxious about how few precious weeks remain.
