Art (and More) at the Museum

You've probably noticed that we frequent a lot of art museums.  I never really thought much about it until we were talking to a friend in the morning who was surprised that we take the boys to art museums.  They had never been.  I actually don't know what I'd do without all of the wonderful museums we have here in D.C.  Not only are the exhibits and collections world class and a great point of discussion with the boys, but the buildings are wonderful examples of architecture and provide beautiful shelter on a cold, raining, or scorching hot day.  We love to eat at the museum cafes (the National Gallery of Art - both restaurants; the Museum of the American Indian; the Museum of American History) and browse the wonderful gift shops (the National Gallery of Art; the Hirschhorn - although I liked it better pre-renovation; the National Building Museum; the Museum of American Art; the Philips Collection).  We always find interesting books, crafts, art supplies, and toys on our outings, and it's a rare day that we leave empty-handed.

Next Saturday will probably bring more art for us as we go to the second in the Stories in Art program for the winter.
