Many Days Off to Come

The months of September and October always are peppered with holidays and days off from school. The weather is usually fantastic and it's a waste not to take advantage of these days.  I'm preparing a list of possible outings, day trips and even overnight trips that we  could squeeze in.

There was no school on Monday (Rosh Hashana) but I did have to work.  Seeing the boys cooped up in the house all day didn't seem right so we went out in the glorious weather after lunch for a walk along the Canal at Swains Lock.  I saw a sign for the entrance over the Summer when picking up BB at a late night stay at Summer camp.  Oh how nice it was to skip rocks and look for turtles under the canopy of greenery.

There are at least two more days off, one of which is a long weekend in the upcoming weeks.  I haven't made definitive plans but on my list so far are:
  1. Trip to the library (restart our library account in the suburbs).  BB and DD are reading fast and our purchases on Amazon and at bookstores to keep them in books is costing a small fortune.
  2. Fun day at IKEA.  Check out our trip from last Rosh Hashanah!
  3. Beach vacation.
  4. Mini-vacation to Philadelphia.  C has to be near Philadelphia so we're thinking about tagging along.
  5. Day trip to local beach.
  6. Museum-hopping day.
