IKEA Playdate

I took my own advice on Thursday and took the kids to IKEA for a playdate.  This has never happened since DD was born and we've never ever gone on a weeknight.  But with the longer days, no school, and great work schedule I now have, I thought "what the heck?"

As luck would have it, there was a major thunderstorm late in the afternoon and it was raining when we decided to head out.  We arrived safely, although it took a while, and the kids started running around immediately.  We had a quick dinner in the restaurant, the kids played in the play area and then in the kids section.  BB had a great time hunting down all the loose paper measuring tapes people just throw on the ground.  He garnered quite the collection and announced that he had a pet octopus!  The kid has a great imagination.

I scooped up all of the new IKEA play food they had.  3 sets in total - fruit, dessert and breakfast, but missed buying the veggie set shown above.  Our IKEA was out.  A few more items thrown in the big yellow bag and a poopie diaper later, we were on our way home driving in the twilight, pushing bedtime.  The car ride was filled with song and fighting over who got to hold the one fried egg in the breakfast set.
