Birthday Weekend in NYC - Part 3
Our final day in NYC after a fun and relaxing weekend come too quickly. The forecast called for rain so we opted to spend our morning at The Met. It's hard to visit NYC and not go to The Met, Like last time, we had a specific exhibit in mind - Age of Empires: Chinese Art of the Qin & Han Dynasties. BB and DD got a chance to see some of the Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an. The exhibit isn't large but it's quality and was another chance for us to expose the boys to some Chinese history and culture.
For me, I did a quick run through of the Rei Kawakubo/Commes des Garcons exhibit. For those who love fashion, the exhibit was top notch and Kawakubo's designs are a study in form and texture. No one else in the family was that excited though. We ended our NY visit with lunch at The Met before heading home.
It's always surprising to me what a difference a long weekend makes. Our short trip still really felt like we got away and didn't require much planning. We were at a disadvantage when we got home, however, since we didn't do any of the shopping or errands we normally do over the weekend, Also, the following work/school week was a busy one but we got through it.
