Weekend Fun Back Home and Elsewhere
Spring really showed herself this week in D.C. After a little bit of rain, our back yard has exploded in leafy lime green (top photo). Just for fun, the power turned off for a few hours Thursday evening, so we did the only thing we could do - go out for ice cream! It meant no homework as well which caused a bit of a scramble Friday morning but that's ok.
Friday afternoon, the boys had a playdate with a friend and new neighbor which was a fun change in the normal routine. On Saturday we went to see The Emperor's Nightingale at Adventure Theatre, which featured a largely-Asian American cast. It was great and got a thumbs up from both BB and DD, especially the scene wherein the two princes are having a brawl with their knowledge.
Sunday was our wedding anniversary - twelve years! To take advantage of the great weather, we drove up to Philadelphia for the day. DD's dinosaur interest is still going strong so we promised a trip to the Academy of Natural Sciences and made a day of it. It's been a long string of lovely days with more to come.
