Bedtime Reading

One of my favorite times of the day is bedtime for BB and DD.  After a long shower, they are ready to be tucked in (an involved routine), drink a small cup of water, and then dig into a good book or two.  We've gone through different stages of me reading picture books, me reading chapter books, BB reading to DD, and since the Summer, BB and DD reading to themselves.

To encourage reading, we purchased pinpoint LED lamps for each of them so that the overhead light can be switched off to promote sleepiness.  It's also nice when one of them is sleepy (DD) and the other still wants to read.  Of course, tonight and many nights, they like to read a book together and share a bed. A pillow and blanket is dragged across the room and conversation ensues.  Tonight they read together about animals that live underground, giggling and pointing, learning and reading together.
