Hallow's Eve

Halloween had a slightly different feel this year.  The kids weren't as into the decorations and costumes as they usually are.  They usually are really into it all.  Maybe they're growing up, or maybe it was an off year.  Either way, they were pretty decisive about their costumes early on.  C and I ended up purchasing a sewing machine to make BB's costume and make adjustments to DD's.  Now that we have a sewing machine, the sky's the limit on creativity next year.

The Friday before Halloween is the costume parade at school followed by class parties.  The next day we finished putting up our decorations (in past years this would have been done!) and went to check out Fall foliage.  We made plans, drove out to our destination, only to be told that the hunters are out and therefore none of the trails are open.  We were allowed to drive through the entire nature preserve as a consolation.  With Halloween falling on a Saturday, we had plenty of time to get the boys dressed and ready.  The weather was nice and mild so no jackets were needed.
A day or two more before I take down the spider, webs, banners, and graveyard.  As I do every year, I'm trying to slows the calendar and just enjoy Fall.  All the shops are pushing their holiday decor already and I'm trying not to look.
