Walters Art Museum

Before DD got sick, we went exploring for a new museum.  We landed in Baltimore at the Walters Art Museum, and I'm so glad we did.  It was the first time for all of us, and while we love hitting up all the Smithsonian museums, as well as the National Gallery, and the Phillips, the boys were really excited about finding new treasures, like a full suit of armor made for an eight year old.  There was also a really cool set of spiral stairs through a door that was made to look like that of a dungeon.  As you make your way down the darkness, you come upon the cafe and museum store, but the entire room is done like a medieval castle.  The boys really enjoyed those details.

Usually, our jaunts to Baltimore involve the National Aquarium and the Inner Harbor, but we avoided all of that this time and explored the Mount Vernon neighborhood.  It's a charming area with residential brownstones, parks, and fountains.

The Walters is undergoing a major renovation to be complete in 2016.  It's Asian art, for the most party, has been put into storage until the project is complete.  We'll be back to check it out.

As for the sickness front, both BB and DD are on the mend and doing much, much better.  This is the last week of camp, and then one more week before school starts.  We haven't prepared at all - no school supplies, no fall clothes or shoes - probably because this mama is in denial.
