Overnight

Parenthood is truly for the adventurous. There is no room for sedentary souls.  My boys go to sleep as one person and wake up as someone new.  Shoes are too small, art becomes a priority, reading ability jumps - all seemingly overnight.
Recently DD's art skills have taken off. I noticed in the past that he was never as interested in drawing as BB, always preferring to do art projects, paint, and design, but not to sit and sketch and draw. But very recently he started picking up his brother's colored pencils and trying to draw what is on his mind. And for someone who has never really done so his drawings amaze me.   In 3 short weeks his drawings have taken off.
Much of this is probably spurred on by BB's drawing, which continues to be full of imagination, color, and detail.  I have to brag a little about my boys. There are squabbles here and there between them, but never fights. There is competition once in awhile, but never bitter rivalry . In fact, when DD draws something to amaze us, it is BB who will tell us that it's perfect.  Likewise when BB draws something impressive, it is DD who will brag and show it to us.  The age gap between them is fun because DD sometimes will ask his big brother to write a caption for his picture or to draw a particularly difficult part of the picture for him.  And, of course, BB always obliges.
