Winter Days Aren't Just For Fun
Tired of the skiing photos yet? Well, that's all 3/4 of our family has been doing all winter. Funny because it hasn't been a great season for skiing generally. The resorts in Colorado and Utah could all use more snow but C planned out the season in advance and it's been working out just fine.
Behind all the skiing though we are already planning out summer. I've paid for all their summer camps and we just reserved our summer beach vacation. It's been a very cold winter thus far and while we're leaning into it hard, thinking about warmer days is a fun escape. One parenting note this winter. We've had lots of snow days (whole and partial) and while the boys are just as giddy as ever to have a break from school, they are both old enough now to still worry about missed work. We had a snow day earlier this week plus a sick day for DD and even in his weakened state, he worried about work. So we spent some morning time going over math concepts and I introduced him to the protractor! BB was catching up on work he should have done over the weekend while he was away skiing. As a mom I'm ambivalent - on the one hand, I'm proud to see that they each have a strong work ethic. On the other hand, I can't help but feel a little sad for the stress they feel already.
