Post-Thanksgiving Update
We had a glorious Thanksgiving holiday. Hope everyone did too. Our celebration started the day before - the kids had a half day of school so once we saw them off, C and I raced to IKEA to browse their holiday stuff. I found a lot including gingerbread houses and cookies; decorations; and some containers/boxes for storage and organization. Before it got too late, we headed to lunch at our new favorite place (will let you in on this place next time).
Prepping and cooking went smoothly and our feast turned out beautifully this year. It's always a pleasure, tinged with a little stress, to host our family for get-togethers. While we celebrated the heck out of Thanksgiving, we never do the same for Black Friday. No one in my family enjoys shopping in stores so we hit the sales online only, which is so quick and easy, and then headed outside to enjoy the weather and use our National Park Pass. We found a new-to-us trail and explored for a few hours before dinner. In the evening, we we went to see our first holiday light show of the season!
The rest of the holiday weekend was more of the same - eating, going out for hikes, playdates, and movies. DD had a big project due on Monday, which he worked on intermittently. We all joined in and it became a fun family activity. Between our trip to DisneyWorld two weeks ago and Thanksgiving, November is going down in the record books as one of the best months of 2017.
This time of year really goes so quickly so I'm trying to savor every moment but also rushing to get all our holiday activities and decorating done. I've already started planning our holiday menu; never too early to start. And one more thing...Happy Anniversary to my little blog. It's been 8 years since I wrote my first post in this space and still so thankful that I did.
