A Snow Day, Finally
Two posts in a row featuring photos of plants. In case you think I’m going crazy with live
plants over here, you’re right; I am.
There wasn’t much of a winter to speak of so I’d already moved on to
spring, buying new plants and planters to place around the house. We put away all the winter gear as the ski
resorts within a 4 hour drive have closed for the season. But then came Storm Stella which closed
schools and allowed me to work from home today. Snow boots served us one more time. A huge back of ice melt won’t sit untouched
any longer. Stella also reopened some
ski resorts so C is planning another trip this weekend if the snow sticks
around.
On our (rare) snow day, the boys played in the snow while C
cleared the driveway. I had endless cups
of coffee and made an early lunch/brunch for BB and DD. In the afternoon, BB and DD played Minecraft
with their friends online. They had
planned a time to “meet up” in case of a snow day. So organized when they want to be. We moved on to art time and practicing
instruments while I finished the last of the day’s work. In the evening, the boys geared up for more snow play, and then we engaged in post-dinner board games (our current obsession is Pandemic), followed up by a trip to the bookstore that was way past bedtime. Unfortunately, the bookstore was closed all day due to the snow so it ended up being a night time drive. No complaints though. We have some nice family discussions in the car sometimes. Other times we rock out to music together.
School is delayed two-hours today but otherwise we're back on schedule. Thank you Storm Stella for bringing us a day of respite, our one and only this winter.
