City Exploring
I've almost made it through another week. It wasn't without its "moments" but things were better. It's the last weekend before Thanksgiving so I'll be spending time coming up with a menu and a shopping and cooking plan. Besides that, we're playing it by ear.
Last Saturday was one of those fun-filled days that just kept getting better and better. Our new schedule is to go to ice skating first and then find a place for lunch. We ended up in downtown Silver Spring for lunch and then shopped their farmer's market for a bit. We made a quick stop home to regroup before we headed back out. First, a stop to the historic Decatur House before walking through Lafayette Park and a taking a peak at the White House. I haven't been in this area in a long time. Besides spending lots of time strolling in Lafayette Park back in my firm days, BB and I used to come down here during my maternity leave.
The revamped Renwick is really fantastic. The art installations that we did see were larger than life, great for young kids. But there were too many people in the museum and lots of disorder about lining up to get to the next room so we left without seeing everything. I'll bring the kids back on another day to enjoy it without the crazy crowds.
Afterwards we stopped for smoothies and a quick snack. The kids were hungry and C had heard that Ray's Hell Burger opened up a new spot in D.C. to enjoy what BB called the best burger ever. By the time we finished dinner and picked up some fruit for Sunday, the day was over and we headed home in the darkness. Here's to another great weekend!
