After the Polar Vortex
The PV (polar vortex) is behind us and everyone's pipes have thawed. It was THAT cold. In further meteorological quandaries, it was 60 degrees on Saturday and raining the entire day. I had planned to get out for a family hike but the rain never let up. So we did the exact opposite of a walk in nature and ended up at a huge mall we'd never been to before because that was the only store that had a certain toy we had promised DD. We ended up taking a long walk through that very crowded mall to buy that toy, and then coming across a Costco attached to the mall. I couldn't resist so we spent even more time in there. The journey left us exhausted but not satisfied. That's what a mall does to you. The rest of the weekend involved a playdate that never materialized, a birthday party that required missing swim clinic, and lots of laundry. Generally, a clunky weekend. This coming weekend and the weekend after are also peppered with birthday parties so the chances are slim for a big outing. But we're going to squeeze every bit out of it that we can, starting with a show tomorrow night at our favorite Adventure Theatre.
