What is that?

That is happiness on wheels.  BB had his birthday party this past Sunday with a bunch of his friends. In total about 15 boys descended on us Sunday afternoon.  Luckily, we had planned for this huge gaming truck to entertain with any and every video game ever.  The inside was equipped with leather seats, flat screens, and XBox and Wii machines ready for play.  For two straight hours, BB and his friends gamed in there while we fielded the occasional bathroom break.  Afterwards, it was pizza, cake, popsicles and bubbles for everyone.  By the time they went home, all were exhausted, including C and me.

These birthday parties aren't cheap! But I always think soon enough, neither BB nor DD will want this kind of party any longer.  Pretty soon they will just want something smaller, and then as they're even older, they will probably want to spend it with friends sans parents.  So even though the birthday season in our family causes me some anxiety, I'm so happy to throw these parties while we still can!
We celebrated mid-week on BB's actual birthday with a tiny cake (we still had leftovers from two other cakes from DD's birthday celebrations).  Yes, we have a 9 year old in the house.  In many ways, he's grown up so much - the things he reads, his mad skills on the computer, his vocabulary.  But his heart is just as kind and sweet as the day he was born.
