This Year's Low Key Halloween

Halloween was low-key this year.  I'm not sure why or how, but organically, cosmically, things started moving that way for the days preceding the big day.  That is not to say that the boys didn't have a great time dressing up and reviewing their sugary haul; they did!  The days of illness, especially for DD, leading up to the main event did drain him.  He even missed the school costume parade and class party.  Voluntarily.  And a Halloween/birthday party.

The other factor was that there was no school on Halloween and no school again tomorrow, which probably meant lots of families left for a 5 day weekend.  We almost did.  C and I are now left with bags of candy in the house.  There are worse things in life.

Tonight, our spooky decorations come down and get packed away for next year.  The holiday season has started, but we are going to savor Fall, look forward to menu planning our Thanksgiving, and string this part of the year out as long and far as we can.
