Life Lately
It's been nothing but celebration, good food, and fun around here as it always is this time of year. DD's birthday festivities are far from over and BB's birthday is in just a few days. To kick off the long weekend, C's been working on a project to build a huge outdoor movie screen for the boys. We're sprucing up the house and enjoying our digs every chance we get. We're planning for more good times this weekend with friends and family to celebrate BB turning 8!
Even though I should be feeling more relaxed as the weather gets warmer, I always become anxious this time of year. It has to do with changing schedules and the end of school. This summer the boys are back to their favorite summer camp. Drop off is much earlier (and now further from our house) so that is change in our morning schedules. Pick-up will also require some major shuffling of work schedules as we try to get along for the first time without a nanny. BB is also joining swim team which has a frequent practice schedule. I'm not all doom and gloom though. I mean we are headed in summer after all and it's hard not to delight in sunshine.
The long weekend was lovely. I remember looking forward to these holiday weekends when we'd stay in town. The city would empty out and street parking would be plentiful. There was a quiet over the entire neighborhood and I loved having all the sidewalks and cafes all to ourselves almost. Now that we're in the suburbs, there isn't much hustle and bustle anyway so any slow down in activity around us goes unnoticed. A neighbor had a prom pre-party at their house (actually on their tennis court). It was lovely to see all those graduates dressed up in tuxedos and gowns. Coincidentally, C and I watched Pretty in Pink on Netflix the night before. If you haven't seen it for a long time, I recommend it for the soundtrack alone. I couldn't help but think again how in several years that will be BB, and then DD, leaving for prom.
