BB and I went to the National Building Museum for an indoor picnic lunch today. Whenever it's rainy or chilly outdoors and we're in the mood for a picnic, we head to NBM. It's extraordinarily high ceilings and expansive running room makes it feel like we're outside. We're usually sitting at one of the benches surrounding the water fountain eating our lunch, throwing dollars worth of coins into the fountain, and running along the "tracks" along the carpet. If you don't see us there, we're in the museum shop (a must see for design and architecture fans) perusing its numerous wares.
Today, they were preparing for the upcoming cherry blossom festivities. Someone had hung all of these pink and yellow paper parasols upside down over the fountain. BB was disappointed that the fountain wasn't turned on. He asked me why and I explained that if the fountain were turned on, the water would touch the parasols and that would not be good. Looking puzzled, he turned to me and said "but the umbrellas can stop the water!" Can't get nothing by that kid.
