Happy Chinese Near Year!

Happy Chinese New Year!  We celebrated last night with a big New Year's Eve dinner at my parents' house.  Besides the food, the highlight of the evening are the red envelopes the kids' get.  They are stuffed with cash (or checks) for good luck in the new year.  When we got home, we gave the kids more red envelopes from us.  BB is just happy to have them; DD is planning his next purchase.  Both slept happily with all of their red envelopes tucked safely under their pillows.

Because the boys don't have Chinese New Year off from school, we try to celebrate it together with Valentine's Day (lots of red decor) and President's Day, which is a recognized holiday.  For the upcoming long weekend C is taking the boys on yet another ski trip today.  Chinese New Year is a 15-day celebration so I'm coming up with ideas on how we can celebrate in other ways once everyone is back.
