Philadelphia or Not

It's the final week of school and the 5th graders went on an end of year field trip to Philadelphia and C chaperoned.  It was a long but what sounded like a really fun day for the kids.  Coincidentally, we had planned a trip to Philadelphia this past weekend and was thinking about having BB and C just stay until the weekend when DD and me could make it up.  But chaperoning of course means that you need to stick with your group so they came back late Thursday.  In the end we decided to postpone our Philadelphia trip to another weekend sometime this summer.

We had to get out and enjoy the warmth though.  On Saturday the boys and I hit the trail while C stayed home to do some house chores.  During our hike, we stopped for butterflies, dragonflies (dead), turtles, blue heron, spiders, and a bald eagle.  We discussed our summer plans and what each of them hoped to see and do and accomplish by the time summer is all over.  I love the beginning of summer when you're at the precipice of it all and everything seems possible.

Summer camp plans were made back in December 2016 (that's just how it is) so we've known the free weeks in our summer schedule for down time and trips.  As usual we're bookending our summer with a trip at the beginning and one at the end, with a few shorter trips sprinkled in if we're lucky.
