Fall Break 2019
It's officially Fall even if temperatures were in the 90s yesterday. A few weekends ago when things were a bit cooler, the men went camping. If you've read here long enough you know that this is an annual (and sometimes a biannual) outing. While C prepares all of the camping equipment, I prepare the food. In addition to the traditional camping foods, the boys do not go without "camp steak." I send them out with 3 large steaks ready for C to grill on the cast iron skillet. In the photo above, you can see BB and DD cooking their baked potatoes on the fire.
The highlight of year's trip? New hatchets! While in London for Spring Break, we came upon a knife shop and the boys became interested in getting hatchets to use outdoors. This is a major step up from the swiss army knives C bought them years ago to use for camping. You'll be glad to know that BB and CC swung their new hatchets without injury or incident.
It is great to hear how they occupied themselves for 2 days without screens in the great outdoors. Their next request is for a larger tent and a longer trip.
