Weekend Fun

As much as I want the summer to be lazy and slow, it hasn't been.  I looked at the calendar and it's the end of June already!  The weekend was packed with both planned and unplanned activities.  Friday night was date night again for C and me.  We hit Annandale for some delicious Korean BBQ.  Saturday was the start of swim classes for the boys.  BB did terrific - marched right up to his class and got into the water with the instructor and never worried that I wasn't even there.  DD, on the other hand, was upset and cried for half of the lesson while C held him.  After class, we RUSHED to Bethesda for a birthday party where BB reunited with classmates.  After lunch, we RUSHED back home for naptime.  Then we headed out again in the afternoon heat to hit the mall, the museum and the beloved carousel.

Sunday morning we had breakfast plans with C's folks who are in town and staying with us off and on through August.  After that, we were off to my folks' house for the boys' weekly visit and fun in the suburbs.  C and I ran errands and even went to the mall for some retail therapy - rare rare treat.  My retail escapades usually are confined to the web.

C's folks are here to stay for part of the summer.  The boys are loving it - a captive audience 24/hours a day.  It's so lovely that they have both sets of grandparents here during the summer months.  We have help with pick up from camp and we've reduced the nanny's hours a great deal.  C and I also have had numerous date nights and opportunities for impromptu coffee.  Just some breathing room to run out and grab a last minute item for dinner is such a help!

I'm looking forward to the Fourth of July and making some casual plans for the long weekend.  Maybe a cookout, taking in a parade with the boys and definitely fireworks from our roofdeck.  Ever since we bought this house we've looked forward to this celebration yearly.
